@darkspilver That all seems a bit too cerebral for me to take in. I guess I can attribute that muddy puddle mixed with confused neurons in my skull to my JW upbringing.
Nothing.
Makes.
Sense.
But preach the word, nevertheless.
....................then you couldn't have been "in the truth" nor was "the truth in you" until july 2013, because that month's watchtower was dedicated to reversing the following 8 "truths" and replacing them with opposing "truths".
you'd been believing and teaching falsehoods.. these are for any new members and those j.w.
's who visit here who have not seen this list before.

we were just musing that jws act in a "flirtatious" manner with people in the community.. they show such "sincere" interest in people when they call.
they seem like such kind, caring and thoughtful people - really interested in their lives and welfare.. people are often quite impressed with the jws manner, and their well dressed presentation.
people (especially vulnerable ones who are going through difficult pressures in life), are drawn in and made to feel special by the witnesses as they call back.. return visits take place.
The smug faces of Witnesses who brag about bagging a Bible study reminds me of the smirk you'd see on a guy's face after just getting to second base.
JW.org should start marketing blue and white rubbers. "Spiritual protection" in these last days because sexually transmitted "pestilences" are rampant, lol.
elders ,co ,do ,branch overseers ,gb ,missionaries has "sinful" lust got the better of them..
But guys.... it's all about making the best out of an "imperfect" organization.
I've heard Alexandra James from JWvictims.org say this before: "I've known a lot of imperfect men in my time. But this... this isn't imperfect. This is SICK."
can someone please help me find the video from the society regarding not advancing children's talents?
it's about a child who is very good at something musical and has been invited to participate in a special advanced course but his father explains how that is worldly thinking.
something along those lines..
@zeb When I was an active Witness, I can truly say that the happiest moment in an assembly was when the drama... ended.
it's nearly a job for life if you don't literally fu.. up..
@stuckinarut2 WHO??? You can use initials and I'll try work it out. I feel like the adjectives you listed (shonky, lying, dishonest, domineering husband, etc) is part of the elder criteria, though...?
i think the swamp would empty overnight .
@no-zombie There's no way the Governing Body is interested in weeding out the unbelievers. Those men CLING to the numbers like a kidnapper clings to its hostages who have seen their attacker's face and can easily report them if set free.
surely someone who eagerly looks forward to the death of billions of people (including babies and children) is not emotionally healthy?.
yet, that is the key belief "happily" anticipated by witnesses.... food for thought?.
i was approached by two jehovah’s witness elders who handed me a pamphlet advertising the jw .org website.
each man carried a bible and an apple ipad.
they told me that they enjoyed visiting with people about the bible, and asked if i was a bible reader.
I actually have no idea what accurate Christianity is? I don't know what the Bible legitimately teaches... I'm still under the impression that the dead will be resurrected onto paradise earth? And that the soul doesn't go to heaven? And Jesus and God are two separate entities? Even though I'm awake to WT's corruption and don't subscribe to theism, I still have my JW blinders on when it comes to understanding what the scriptures say...
one of the most frustrating things.
when you confront jw's about what they believe they will often deny it.
such as "if your child is disfellowshipped then you can't have contact with them ever again".
It's always so frustrating when you have friends and family who are in and try to woo you back with what you KNOW to be deceptive reasoning! It's so jarring when they tell me "that's just your own opinion and you're wrong about that" when I counter them with facts about the society and what it teaches! When I try to produce evidence (eg, older publications, recent publications, audio of the Gov Body, etc) they literally block their ears and close their eyes saying they don't want to know! HOW are these people in ANY position to actively try and recruit members when its to an organization they know SO LITTLE about?!
jws and other christians would often point to the handful of the bible verses that seem to be scientifically accurate as evidence of its divine inspiration.
but not surprisingly, they ignore the ones that are scientifically inaccurate, or when they address those verses they put a spin on it like saying the account is not a reflection of what the bible is teaching but what men at the time erroneously believed and which god allowed them to record in the bible.
would you believe a jw actually told me that!
When I was younger and doing my Bible reading with my father, he'd marvel at the "inspiration" of Job and Isiah and rave about the water cycle and other mundane observations. When I'd point out that the earth does not have "foundations", "four corners" or a heaven stretched just above us, he'd say, "this is of course POETIC language," and he'd whisk me over to Revelation where such apocalyptic (otherwise poetic) language is used in conjunction with such flat-earth descriptions. He'd reason that since the visions are by no means literal, why would the flat earth language in the same verses be taken literally as well? It's all just symbolic.
Why he got to cherry pick which verses CAN be taken as literal and why others may not is yet to be revealed to me. Maybe I'll have a vision tonight with all the answers unveiled. Or a demonic attack (pseudo-seizure) whereby the answers are given to me from the other side. Or perhaps the earth will split open and swallow up my doubt (you know... like an earthquake). But hey, if that's blasphemy, I know I'll be plagued by a disease caused by a displeased God... not microorganisms.
Seriously, if this above reasoning doesn't sound like wisdom from a gang of bronze age goat herders, I don't know WHAT has credibility anymore.
